“The hotel site was the ‘Charles Marshall Foundry’ established in 1880. Charles Marshall owned this essential industry during World War One and he invented aid tools for the war amputee casualties. Upon the return of the ships into Melbourne, he personally met the ships as a gesture and gave the complimentary aid tools to the soldiers.

He built the Shire of Remembrance gates at the Botanical Gardens site, in St Kilda.

Because of the works of Charles Marshall, we have named one of our most popular conference rooms after him.”
